Vacation Day One — Mackinac Bridge Monday

Published by at 6:14 pm under Uncategorized

We headed up to St. Ignace the first day. Our kids had never been over the bridge! We drove up, settled in at the campground, had dinner (service was poor and there was no deck seating, alas), walked on the boardwalk and waded in the lake back at the campground again. Not bad for a Monday.

This scenic overlook looked over the highway. Woo.

Here we come, Upper Peninsula!

Anyone else thinking of Red Riding Hood? "What big eyes you have..." This was at the Welcome Center just over the bridge.

We could see Lake Huron and Mackinac Island from our campsite. This isn't the island, though, in this picture.

After dinner Monday night, we enjoyed the St. Ignace boardwalk and pier.

We happened to see the schooner Madeline come in. We'd seen the Madeline at Tall Ships Festival in Bay City, and I'd reported on it in my Grand Haven days.

Sam conquered the big rock!

And so did Avery.

This might be Avery's prettiest picture yet.
