The kids meet famous children’s author Jan Brett

Published by under Uncategorized

They waited two hours! Luckily Bruce joined me at the bookstore to entertain them while I held a place in line. This next picture shows how they spent much of the time in line.

ArtPrize and Meijer Gardens

Published by under Uncategorized

We didn’t make it to most of the ArtPrize events, but we did take a trip to the Meijer Gardens in late September which featured some of the entries. The first one we saw, a giant red steel ring, Sam lept into immediately. We shouted, “No!” Until we noticed the sign that said, go ahead […]

Take me out to the ballgame

Published by under Uncategorized

Grandma Ringstrom collected on her annual Mother’s Day present and we all headed to the ballpark to watch the Whitecaps play the Great Lakes Loons. Great game, lots of exciting plays including two homeruns. The Whitecaps are fighting for a playoff spot, so there was a lot at stake. Sadly, it was the hottest day […]

Carpe beach….seize the beautiful day

Published by under Uncategorized

So we woke up on a day with low humidity, pleasant warm air, cloudless skies, and lake water temps that, according to the newspaper, were in the 70s. Naturally we threw together a picnic lunch and headed for Saugatuck. Oval Beach is stunning, the water was so warm it was practically tropical, and the waves […]

May the Force Be With You…Star Wars in Concert

This event was tailor-made for Sam and Daddy. At Van Andel Arena, an orchestra and choir performed the Star Wars music synced up with selected scenes, plus a laser light show, narration by Anthony Daniels (voice of C-3PO and the only character in all six movies) and a traveling museum exhibit with original costumes, plus […]
